My approach

My psychotherapeutic approach and what I offer:

2-tinyI have a person-centred, integrative and systemic approach to psychotherapy. I aim to establish a trusting relationship with my clients, and in so doing facilitate the movement towards discovering, exploring and identifying the difficulties and obstacles that they are facing and experiencing. I see the person as a whole and help them to connect consciously to their different parts, thoughts (cognitions) and feelings, respecting their dignity in a non-threatening or judgemental manner.

The attitude, cognitions and behaviour of the individual are pivotal in the change process. Therefore, helping clients reframe cognitive distortions and misconceptions, developing a consciousness of self-defeating behaviours (which creates distance in relationships) and defining and implementing mutually identified goals are the fundamental essence of the change process. In so doing I aim to assist individuals on their unique path to healing, developing resilience and the capacity to believe that change is possible.

The ability of the client to experience and share their vulnerability is to share their humanness.

The basis of the therapeutic relationship is one of mutual trust and respect, holding confidentiality in high regard. I offer the individual the experience of being heard and understood. The unique relationship that develops between my client and myself as a therapist, is central to the work that I do.

My treatment style is informed by a variety of different treatment modalities and techniques. I work
holistically, creatively and eclectically incorporating various approaches to meet the unique needs of my clients.

“Those that have a ‘why’ to live can bear with almost any ‘how’.”
